Dear Fiona,

I have carefully considered your request to waive the Faculty ruling that you be Required to Withdraw for One Year.

After reviewing your petition, I have decided to drop FILM 111 (F25), ARTH 122 (W26) and PSYC 100 (FW25/26) after the academic deadline which will remove the Faculty ruling that you be Required to Withdraw for One Year. Your final grades in these courses will be replaced with DR notations on your transcript once this has been processed by the Office of the University Registrar. You may now resume your studies at Queen’s University.

Going forward, I would suggest that you consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you can obtain ongoing support from an Accessibility Advisor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

As you continue in your studies, I suggest that you consider taking no more than 9.0 units per term for the upcoming Fall/Winter academic year and no more than 6.0 units in a Summer term.

Please remember to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on your classes prior to the drop deadline of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by the deadline. The drop deadlines, outlined in the Important Dates section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Also, it is your responsibility to take the necessary steps to support the successful completion of your program and to maintain a GPA consistent with the requirements of your plan. You may find the following strategies helpful:

· Choose courses carefully. Achieving a higher grade in a repeated course can improve your GPA and support your return to and maintenance of good academic standing.

· Reflect on your program choice. Consider whether your current plan aligns with your interests and strengths. Your Academic Advisement Report in SOLUS can help you track requirements and plan future courses. Information on program options is available in the Academic Calendar: queensu.ca/academic-calendar/arts-science/schools-departments-programs/.

· Seek academic advising. You may consult an Academic Advisor through the Faculty Office (Dunning Hall) or online: queensu.ca/artsci/undergrad-students/student-

services/academic-advising. Departmental advising may also be available.

· Use Student Academic Success Services (SASS). sass.queensu.ca/ offers workshops and supports to strengthen study skills and academic strategies.

· Access Student Wellness Services. queensu.ca/studentwellness/ provides counselling and support for managing personal challenges..

· Understand Academic Consideration. queensu.ca/artsci/accommodations outlines options available when experiencing short-term extenuating circumstances.

I wish you success as you move forward in your studies.

Sincerely,

Dorit Naaman, PhD
Associate Dean (Academic)
