Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 1589
Decision Date: December 8, 2015
Associate Dean: Johanne Benard, Ph.D.
Student Name: George Fahim
Student Email: 14gf3@queensu.ca
Course: ECON 222
Term: Fall
Year: 2015
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Mr. Fahim:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ECON 222 (F 2015) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I would like to note that this is a lenient decision. Normally, in order for appeals to be successful, supporting documentation from a healthcare professional is required. Documentation must also confirm the timeline, severity and impact that the circumstances had on the student€™s academic studies during the timeframe in question. While I appreciate that your mother can attest to your personal difficulties she is not in a position to confirm all of the information we require. Any further appeals to the Faculty Office will require proper documentation in order to be successful.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
Yours sincerely,
Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
