Dear Mr. Brar:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 271 (F 2015) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I would like to point out that this is a very lenient decision on my part. In reviewing this appeal and your previous appeal asking to drop CLST 205 from the same term, it is clear that you have exercised poor judgement in relation to your mental health issues. I would strongly recommend that you continue to see your personal counsellor over the winter term to ensure that your mental health issues have been resolved and do no continue to affect your academics. I would also strongly recommend that you monitor your progress very carefully this term and if you continue to experience any difficulties, ensure that you drop any courses, as needed, within the academic deadlines. The last day to drop a winter term course is Friday, February 26. Your advisor cautioned you not to pursue a full course load this term and I agree with this advice. I will not entertain granting any further appeals due to workload issues.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
