I have carefully considered your appeal to drop WRIT 125 (W 2015) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
However, from your student record and file, it appears that you accepted your offer of admission to Queen€™s University and you chose a course to register in and set up your Queen€™s email account. These activities confirmed your intention to take WRIT 125. The email correspondence sent to you clearly outlined your responsibilities as a student and specifically stated that all further correspondence would be sent to your Queen€™s email account. It appears that you did not check your Queen€™s email account at any point in time and thus, did not realize that you were enrolled in WRIT 125 and fully responsible for adhering to the academic regulations and deadlines. Because this was your first attempt in registering for a course and you may not yet be familiar with the process, I am willing to allow this late course drop. However, in the future, it is expected that you will monitor your Queen€™s email account, manage your courses carefully and correspond with the Continuing and Distance Studies Office, should you have any questions or concerns.
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
