Dear Ms. Gao:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 370 (F 2015) past the academic deadline as well as receive Aegrotat standing in ENGL 100B (W 2016) and Credit standing in PSYC 205, PSYC 333, PSYC 398 (F 2015) and PSYC 351 (W 2016). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Your grade in ENGL 100 will appear on your transcript as B-, along with the notation €œAegrotat: Estimated Grade€. Your grades in PSYC 205, PSYC 333 and PSYC 398 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I would like to note that while I am granting your appeal, I remain concerned that your circumstances do not yet appear to be under control. For the next year, I would recommend that you consider pursuing a part-time course load to allow you the time you need to help manage your personal issues and receive ongoing treatment. You should also make use of the support services available on campus. Finally, keep in mind that the appeals system is not intended to compensate for extenuating circumstances that are ongoing in nature for which the student is unable to effectively resolve or manage. This is now your second appeal based on the same circumstances so for the future, you are expected to monitor your academic progress very carefully and drop any courses, as needed, within the academic deadlines.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
