Dear Mr. Meir:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop MUSC 228, MUSC 381 and PHIL 271 (W 2014) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I would recommend that you consult with your Undergraduate Chair in the School of Music to review your academic plan and determine what courses you have left to complete for your Bachelor of Music degree. You are currently at 138.0 unit attempts after the drop of these courses but your GPA is currently above 1.90 so you are eligible to proceed to an Honours degree at this point in time. However, you must keep your GPA at or above 1.90 to remain eligible for an Honours degree so if you feel that you are at risk of failing a course or earning average grades lower than C, I would advise you to drop courses as needed within the drop deadlines.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Upcoming Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.

Yours sincerely,

Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
