Dear Ms. Harris:

I have carefully considered your request to have your appeal heard after the 21-day timeline for submission, and have decided, based on the circumstances you refer to in your letter of appeal, to waive the timeline. You may now proceed with your planned appeal.

While I am granting your request I do so with reservation. In particular, I would note that this is your second appeal and it appears that you have been unable to manage your ongoing extenuating circumstances since this time. In your main appeal, you must clearly indicate what you are requesting to appeal and it is important to include supporting documentation from a healthcare professional that indicates the timeline, severity and impact that your extenuating circumstances had on your studies over the time period in question. You should also include an explanation in your appeal letter of what your plan is for managing your extenuating circumstances on an ongoing basis so they do not continue to negatively affect your studies in the future.

Please access on the on-line appeals system at: http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/help/academic-appeals/online-appeal-submission After you enter your NetID and password you will now have a new appeal option called €œSubmit a Late Appeal€. Choose this option and follow the steps. Your appeal letter should explain the extenuating circumstances concerning the particular courses (if applicable), and include any relevant supporting documentation that wasn€™t included with your prior appeal. There will not be a fee for this new appeal, as it will be considered and amendment to your 21-day deadline appeal so the system will skip over the payment step.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Faculty Office for advice or assistance.

Sincerely,

J. Hugh Horton, Ph.D.
