Dear Mr. Doggett:

I have reviewed your appeal to change the grade you received in MATH 121B (Winter 2014) to Credit standing. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information supplied by the instructor about the circumstances surrounding this course, I have decided to grant your appeal. Your grade in this course will appear on your transcript as CR.

As a result of this decision, the Not Eligible to Proceed ruling will be removed from your transcript. You are currently eligible to resume your studies at Queen€™s University.

I would like to note that I exercised a great deal of leniency in granting this appeal. Participating with the Kingston Frontenacs and prioritizing your hockey career over your studies is in itself not considered to be an extenuating circumstance that would warrant waiving the academic regulations. However, given that you are a first-year student and perhaps unfamiliar with the academic regulations and the ramifications of not meeting your conditions of admission, I am willing to allow you another opportunity. However, be cautioned any further appeals received based on similar circumstances will be reviewed closely.

For the next academic year, I would encourage you to monitor your academic progress carefully and drop any courses as needed within the academic deadlines to avoid further penalties. I would also recommend that you seek academic advising through the Faculty Office to ensure that you understand the academic regulations and your current standing. Appointments can be made by calling 613-533-2470.

Sincerely,

Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
