I have carefully considered your request to have your appeal heard after the 21-day timeline for submission. Based on the circumstances you refer to in your letter of appeal, I have decided to waive the timeline and grant your appeal to drop GEOL 107 (F 2015), CISC 101 and MATH 126B (W 2016) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in BIOL 103, ECON 110B and GPHY 101 (W 2016).
I would like to note that while I am granting your appeal, I have some serious concerns. It appears from your appeal letter and the letter from your counsellor that you have only recently begun to seek treatment for your health issues. I would strongly recommend that you get registered with Accessibility Services as soon as possible to ensure that you receive any academic accommodation you need and consider taking a reduced course load until your condition is well under control. Your transcript shows that you are registered in an extremely heavy course load for winter term. I would suggest that you take no more than 3-4 courses and continue to seek ongoing counselling through Student Wellness Services. Any further appeals submitted based on these same circumstances will not be viewed favourably unless you can supply some evidence that you are actively working to manage your condition so it will not continue to negatively affect your academic studies.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
