Dear Mr. Savenko:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop STAT 361 and MATH 436 (F 2016) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I am very glad to hear that you have addressed your personal challenges and your family is providing you with the support you need. Over the next term, please ensure that you monitor your progress carefully and if you find that you are still struggling, I would suggest that you book an appointment to see a counsellor through the Student Wellness Services Centre on campus. Our counsellors can help provide you with some tools and resources to help you cope with and overcome these challenges. Appointments can be made by calling 613-533-6000 ext. 78264.

If you have not yet dropped the winter term courses you plan to drop, please ensure that you do so prior to January 20 to receive a full tuition refund.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.

Yours sincerely,

Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
