As per the decision of the Board of the Studies, your request to have your appeal heard after the 21-day timeline for submission has been granted. You may now proceed with your plans to appeal PHYS 206 (Fall 2013) and PHYS 216 (Winter 2014).
I note that in your previous appeal letter you indicate that you wish to drop these courses past the academic deadline. You may appeal to drop PHYS 206 past the deadline as you received an F in the course. However, because you passed PHYS 216 with a grade of D- you cannot drop this course but you may appeal for Credit standing instead. See Appeal Regulation 3.3.2., €œNote that classes in which a student has received a passing grade may not be dropped. Instead, students with extenuating circumstances should consider an appeal for credit (CR) standing, see Academic Regulation 10.€ Should you choose to appeal for Credit standing and your appeal is granted, the grade for PHY 2126 will be replaced with a CR notation, which means that credit has been earned for the course but there is no grade and thus, no effect on the GPA. If you wish to discuss these options in more detail before proceeding with your appeal, please schedule an appointment to meet with our Appeals Coordinator, Haley Everson, via asc.appeals@queensu.ca and she will assist you.
Please access on the on-line appeals system at: http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/help/academic-appeals/online-appeal-submission After you enter your NetID and password you will now have a new appeal option called €œSubmit a Late Appeal€. Choose this option and follow the steps. Your appeal letter should explain the extenuating circumstances concerning these particular courses, and include any relevant supporting documentation that wasn€™t included with your prior appeal. There will not be a fee for this new appeal, as it will be considered an amendment to your 21-day deadline appeal so the system will skip over the payment step. There is normally a 21-day deadline to submit a late appeal; however, as the University will be closed over the holidays, you will be permitted up to January 24, 2017 to submit your appeal.
