Dear Mr. Grossman:
I have carefully considered your appeal to receive an extension of your incomplete grades in CHEM 282 (Winter 2015) and KNPE 595 (Fall/Winter 2015/16). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
You are permitted up to the end of the current term to complete KNPE 595 and I understand that you are actively working on this course with Dr. Costigan.
In regard to CHEM 282, Dr. Carran and I have some concerns as you took this course two years ago. It has been a long time since you have participated in the labs and covered the material and thus, you may find it difficult to prepare for this exam and complete the course with any reasonable degree of success. Therefore, I strongly encourage you to think about CHEM 282 carefully and consider whether or not you can confidently write this exam with the current class in April. If not, I am willing to allow you to drop this course past the academic deadline instead and you may retake the course at a later date. We do offer an online version of the course over the summer so you may wish to explore this option instead. This will be the final extension we are able to grant for CHEM 282. If you are not able to write the exam this April due to extenuating circumstances then your last remaining option will be to appeal to drop this course past the academic deadline.
