Dear Ms. Wilks:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ENGL 315 (FW 2012/13), WRIT 125 (W 2014) and WRIT 265 (W 2014) past the academic deadline as well as request Aegrotat standing in HIST 272 (FW 2013/14) and DRAM 205 (F 2013). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:

1. I will grant your request to drop ENGL 315 (FW 2012/13), WRIT 125 (W 2014) and WRIT 265 (W 2014) past the academic deadline as receive Aegrotat standing in HIST 272 (FW 2013/14). Your grade in HIST 272 will appear on your transcript as A- along with the notation €œAegrotat: Estimated Grade€.

2. In regards to your request for Aegrotat standing in DRAM 205, when a student requests Aegrotat standing in a course, we need to collect information from the instructor to determine eligibility for an AG grade and to calculate the estimated grade based on the work completed. In the case of DRAM 205 from fall term 2013, we are not able to collect the information needed to determine your eligibility for an AG grade because the instructor has not retained the course grade records that far back (Senate regulations require instructors to keep their course grade records for 12 months only.) Therefore, I cannot hear this request. However, based on the final grade posted to your transcript (D), I am willing to instead offer you Credit standing in DRAM 205 (CR). If you would like to have your D grade changed to CR (meaning that you still earn credit for the course but there is no grade and no effect on the GPA), please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.

Yours sincerely,

Sue Blake
