I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in MATH 111, MATH 120 (FW 2015/16) as well as receive Aegrotat standing in CHEM 112 (FW 2015/16). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:
1. I will grant your request to receive Credit standing in MATH 111 and MATH 120. Your grades in these courses will be changed to CR.
2. I must deny your request to receive Aegrotat standing in CHEM 112.
As you know, the Appeal regulations state that, Aegrotat standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60 per cent of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all of the work of the course.€ We consulted with your instructor to determine your eligibility for an AG or CR grade and he confirmed that you have completed 100 of the work for CHEM 112 but you received a failing grade (you received 28 on your final exam, 51 on your midyear exam and an average of 33 on your weekly quizzes, average grades on your labs and on-line homework). Because you did not pass the course, you are unfortunately not eligible for either an AG or a CR grade. However, I would be willing to allow you to drop this course past the academic deadline instead. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision to confirm and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
