Dear Mr. McDougall:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop SOCY 235 and SOCY 273 (W 2017) past the academic deadline as well as your request to receive Aegrotat Standing in SOCY 389 and extensions of your incomplete grades in SOCY 210 and SOCY 226 (F 2016). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:

1. I will grant your request to drop SOCY 235 and SOCY 273 past the academic deadline.

2. I will grant your request to receive extensions of your incomplete grades in SOCY 210 and SOCY 226 to allow you to fully complete these courses. Note that you may choose to either complete some work for these courses right away in order to possibly qualify for an Aegrotat grade, or you may accept the extension to complete all the work in these courses by September 15, 2017. If you choose to accept the extension, you must finish these courses in full.

3. I will deny your request to receive Aegrotat standing in SOCY 389 (F 2016). Your instructor confirmed that you have only completed 25 of the work for this course and to be eligible for an AG grade, you must have completed a minimum of 60. However, I would be willing to allow you to drop this course past the academic deadline or receive an extension of an incomplete grade to September 15, 2017 to allow you the opportunity to submit all outstanding work for the course. If you would like to accept either of these offers, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision to confirm and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.

It is your responsibility to contact your instructors in a timely manner to make any needed arrangements for submitting your late work and/or writing deferred exams. The final deadline for submission of any outstanding work is September 15, 2017.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
