Dear Mr. Waseem:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CISC 220 and WRIT 125 (F 2016) past the academic deadline as well as request Aegrotrat standing in CISC 365 (F 2016). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:

1. I will grant your request to drop CISC 220 and WRIT 125 past the academic deadline.

2. I unfortunately cannot allow an AG grade in CISC 365 because you are not eligible for this notation. To be eligible for Aegrotat standing, the student must have completed at least 60 of the work required for the course. To date, you have only completed 40 of the work for CISC 365. However, I would be willing to allow you to drop this course past the academic deadline instead. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.

I would strongly recommend that you consider enrolling in only one or two courses per term until your condition is stabilized. It is also important that you manage your health and monitor your progress in your courses carefully throughout each term. If you feel that your workload is too heavy or that you are not making good progress in any of your courses, it is your responsibility to make decisions about dropping them within the academic deadlines.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
