I have carefully considered your request to have your appeal heard after the 21-day timeline for submission, and have decided, based on the circumstances you refer to in your letter of appeal, to waive the timeline.
I have subsequently reviewed your appeal to drop ECON 212, ECON 222 and MATH 121B (W 2014) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your letter and supporting documentation, I have decided to grant your request.
Although I am granting your appeal, I would like to note that I do remain very concerned about your academic progress. There does not appear to be any improvement in your grades since transferring to the Faculty of Arts and Science from Commerce and assuming you stay registered in your current fall and winter term courses, your academic record will be formally assessed in May 2015. I would strongly recommend that you seek some academic advising from the Faculty Office to receive some information and advice on what academic supports are available to help improve your current standing. Appointments can be made by calling 613-533-2470.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Upcoming Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
