Dear Ms. Davies:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop POLS 250B, POLS 280 and SOCY 211 (W 2014) past the academic deadline as well as receive an extension of your incomplete grade in SOCY 273 (W 2014). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

As Professor Houghtaling has agreed to, you will have until the end of the Fall 2014 term to complete and submit any outstanding work for SOCY 273. It is your responsibility to communicate regularly with Professor Houghtaling to confirm deadlines and other necessary details.

If you wish to appeal for a tuition refund in any of your dropped courses, this process is handled through the Office of the University Registrar via this form: http://www.queensu.ca/registrar/aboutus/forms/Tuition_Fee_Amendment_Appeal_Form.pdf
Their office can be reached at 613-533-2040 if you have questions.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Upcoming Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.

Yours sincerely,

Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
