Dear Mr. Pardy:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ANAT 100, ECON 212, ECON 222, ECON 250 and WRIT 120 (W 2017) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request with the following offer and condition noted below.

Given the timeline and severity of your circumstances, I would also be willing to allow to you to drop ECON 212, ECON 250 and ECON 255 from the Fall 2016 term as well. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.

Due to the ongoing nature of your difficulties, I have made the decision to place you on part-time status. Note that as a part-time student you will only be allowed a maximum of 18.0 units in the Fall-Winter session with no more than 9.0 units per term. It is my hope that the slower pace of part-time study will allow you sufficient time to remedy the personal and academic difficulties you have faced in the past and thereby enable you to be more successful in your future studies.

For the next academic year, I would strongly encourage you to follow through with your academic plan to take online courses from home and continue receiving therapy. I would also encourage you to seek regular academic advising through the Faculty Office (phone or Skype appointments can be arranged by calling 613-533-2470). If there is an improvement in your academic performance by the end of the year and you feel ready to take on a heavier course load, you may schedule an appointment to meet with me and I will consider changing your status back to full-time studies at that time.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
