Dear Ms. Garayt:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop RELS 340, POLS 367, POLS 366, DEVS 340 (F 2008); DEVS 321, DEVS 340, POLS 243 (F 2009); POLS 244, DEVS 300, HIST 252, SPAN 112 and MUSC 289 (W 2010); DEVS 320, HIST 267, POLS 242 (F 2010); DEVS 340, POLS 243, POLS 263 (W 2011); and DEVS 392 (F 2011) after the deadline. After reviewing your file I have decided the following:
1. I will grant your request to drop DEVS 321, DEVS 340, POLS 243 (F 2009); DEVS 300, HIST 252, POLS 244, SPAN 112 (W 2010) as well as DEVS 320, HIST 267, POLS 242 (F 2010); DEVS 340, POLS 243, POLS 263 (W 2011); and DEVS 392 (F 2011) past the academic deadline.
2. I will deny your request to drop MUSC 289 (W 2010) since you passed this course, but I will allow you to receive Credit standing instead (meaning that you earned Credit for the course but there is no letter grade and therefore this course will not be included in your GPA).
3. I cannot hear your appeal to drop RELS 340, POLS 367, POLS 366, DEVS 240 (F 2008) because you already appealed to drop these courses in August 2009. That appeal was denied and you did not submit an appeal of that decision at that time to the Board of Studies.
If you choose to accept my offer to receive Credit standing in MUSC 289, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision letter to confirm your acceptance. Once it has been received we will make the change to your transcript.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
Best of luck upon your return to your studies.
Sincerely,
Sue Blake
