Dear Mr. Logan:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop POLS 367 (W 2017) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I cannot hear your request for Aegrotat standing in POLS 348, POLS 361 and POLS 395 because you have not completed the majority of work for any of these courses and you have not met the learning outcomes; therefore, you are not eligible for this grade notation. However, I would be willing to allow you to drop these courses instead. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision to confirm and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.

I would like to note that I am granting your appeal solely on the basis of your undiagnosed and untreated conditions from the winter term. Now that you have been properly diagnosed and you are being treated, I expect that you have registered with Accessibility Services and you are receiving academic accommodations. You are expected to take responsibility for managing your academics and your health and make proactive decisions about your courses. If you find that you are not performing up to your usual academic standards, you must make decisions to drop courses within the drop deadlines. The last day to drop a fall term course is Friday, November 3.

Note that any change in academic registration (e.g. dropping courses) may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding such as OSAP, scholarships, or bursaries. Please consult with the Student Awards Office (Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall) to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load. A change in academic registration may also affect a student€™s enrollment status as a full or part-time student, eligibility for student visas, or benefits through external agencies.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
