Dear Mr. Kim:

I have carefully considered your request to have your appeal heard after the on term timeline for submission. Based on the circumstances you refer to in your letter of appeal I have decided to waive the timeline and grant your appeal to drop MATH 474, STAT 455 (F 2015), MATH 210, MATH 281, MATH 385, MATH 477 and STAT 464 (W 2016) past the academic deadline.

From your transcript, you are currently eligible to graduate with your Bachelor of Science (General) degree in Mathematics. If you would like to graduate now, I would recommend that you apply to graduate this spring. The application to graduate opens on SOLUS starting December 1.

If you wish to pursue an Honours degree, you may consult with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics to determine if you are eligible to do so. The Not Eligible to Procced to Honours ruling will be removed from your transcript as you are currently at 114.0 unit attempts and your GPA is approximately 1.89. Keep in mind that you must raise your GPA to 1.90 to remain eligible to pursue an Honours degree.

Note that any change in academic registration (e.g. dropping courses) may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding such as OSAP, scholarships, or bursaries. Please consult with the Student Awards Office (Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall) to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load. A change in academic registration may also affect a student€™s enrollment status as a full or part-time student, eligibility for student visas, or benefits through external agencies.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.

Yours sincerely,

Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
