Appeal Number: 3857
Decision Date: October 23, 2017
Associate Dean: Johanne Benard, Ph.D.
Student Name: Bonnie Cai
Student Email: bonnie.cai@queensu.ca
Course: PSYC397
Term: Summer
Year: 2017
Category: Request aegrotat (AG) standing in a course or courses
Instructor: Mary Olmstead
Dear Ms. Cai:
I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Aegrotat standing in PSYC 397 (S 2017). After reviewing your file I must unfortunately deny your request.
While your appeal does certainly describe circumstances that are extenuating in nature and there is supporting documentation to confirm them, an Aegrotat grade is not possible in this course because it contravenes a valid departmental policy, which I cannot override. However, given your circumstances I would be willing to allow you to drop PSYC 397 past the academic deadline instead. If you wish to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision letter to confirm your request. Once it has been received we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent. Guidelines for appealing to the Board of Studies and the appeal form can be found at: http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/students-at-queens/academic-appeals (click on €œBoard of Studies€) Do not use the on-line application for this process. You may contact Mr. Harry Smith, Office of the Ombudsman for advice on matters of procedure and on obtaining a representative. His office is located in room 421 Robert Sutherland Hall and he can be reached by phone (533-6495) or e-mail (ombuds@queensu.ca).
Sincerely,
Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
