Dear Ms. Atkinson:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop MATH 121 (FW 2016/17) and CHEM 281 (S 2017) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in PHGY 210 (W 2017). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

With the changes made to these grades, your GPA has been recalculated but unfortunately, it remains below 1.90. Therefore, the €œNot Eligible to Proceed to Honours€ ruling will stand. It appears that you are currently eligible to graduate with your Bachelor of Arts (General) degree in Political Studies so I would suggest that you apply to graduate now so you can convocate this spring. I would also strongly urge you to make an appointment to meet with a Career Counsellor in the Career Services office (www.careers.queensu.ca). Our Career Counsellors can provide you with information and guidance on all the options available to you as a post-graduate (both further educational opportunities and career opportunities.) I think you will find this resource quite helpful in discovering what further paths you can take with a general degree.

Note that any change in academic registration (e.g. dropping courses) may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding such as OSAP, scholarships, or bursaries. Please consult with the Student Awards Office (Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall) to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load. A change in academic registration may also affect a student€™s enrollment status as a full or part-time student, eligibility for student visas, or benefits through external agencies.
