Dear Ms. Faulds:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CLST 205 and HLTH 333 (F 2012); KNPE 330B, HLTH 237, HLTH 350, HLTH 405, PHYS P20 (W 2013); FILM 240, HLTH 333, PHYS P20 (F 2013) and PYSC 235B, HLTH 237, HLTH 435, KNPE 455 and PACT 335 (W 2014) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in DEVS 100 (S 2012). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grade in DEVS 100 will appear on your transcript as CR.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. Instead, students should register with QSAS and work with an accommodation advisor to manage their academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
Yours sincerely,
Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
