Your appeal requesting to drop DEVS 240, DEVS 250, HIST 252, LLCU 244 and GPHY 228 (Winter 2018) past the academic deadline has been granted on behalf of the Associate Dean (Studies). Please check SOLUS in a week€™s time to ensure this change has been made ok.

Note that any change in academic registration (e.g. dropping courses) may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding such as OSAP, scholarships, or bursaries. Please consult with the Student Awards Office (Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall) to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load. A change in academic registration may also affect a student€™s enrollment status as a full or part-time student, eligibility for student visas, or benefits through external agencies.

This appeal has been granted based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. Instead, students should register with QSAS and work with an accommodation advisor to manage their academics, as you suggest you plan to do next year. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.

I would also encourage you to carefully monitor your progress in your summer term courses and ensure you drop courses by the Summer term deadline dates if necessary.
