Dear Ms. Duggan:
I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Aegrotat standing in DEVS 221 (W 2018). After reviewing your file I must unfortunately deny your request.
As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.1. states that, Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60 per cent of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all of the work of the course.€
While your appeal does describe some circumstances that are extenuating in nature, there is no sufficient documentation supplied to confirm that you are not able to complete the remaining requirements for this course. Aegrotat standing is only granted in cases where it is not possible for the student to complete the outstanding work under any reasonable circumstances. I would recommend that you consult with Dr. Lovelace to arrange a deferred exam instead. Students are permitted up to September 15 at the latest (in consultation and agreement with the instructor) to complete any deferred or incomplete work from the winter term.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
