Dear Ms. Patel:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CHEM 281 and ANAT 215 (F 2017) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in BCHM 218 (F 2017), MICR 221 (W 2018) and PHGY 214 and PHYS 117 (FW 2017-18). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grades in BCHM 218, MICR 221, PHGY 214 and PHYS 117 will appear on your transcript as CR.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and the difficulty you had transitioning to university. But I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to work with your Counsellor and an Academic Advisor to manage your academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term.

Yours sincerely,

Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
