Dear Ms. Kuiack:

I have reviewed your request to complete the remaining course requirements on a Letter of Permission at Western University for your BA (Honours) degree with a Major concentration in History and a Minor concentration in English. As you know, Regulation 14.4 indicates that €œnormally the last two years of the Honours degree are taken in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen€™s.€ However, given the circumstances explained in your letter of appeal, and the support of the History and English Departments, I agree to this request. Please consult with your departments regularly to ensure that the courses you select will properly fulfill the Queen€™s requirements for your degree.

You must now apply for a Letter of Permission through the Arts & Science Office. Please allow up to 21 days to receive a response.

Note that official transcripts with final grades must be received by the Faculty of Arts and Science Office upon completion of the courses. Please keep in mind that you must achieve a minimum grade of C on each course taken on a Letter of Permission, unless stated otherwise.

Finally, please be advised that according to Academic Regulation 16.2.3, a student can apply a maximum of 12.0 transfer units towards their Minor and 24.0 units towards their Major. You will need to complete some of your English Minor requirements through Queen€™s online, as needed, if you intend to graduate with both your Major in History and Minor in English.

I wish you well in the remainder of your studies at Queen€™s, in your studies while attending university in London, and in your future undertakings.

Yours sincerely,

Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
