Dear Mr. Madeira-Shapiro:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop MICR 221 (W 2018) past the academic deadline as well as extend your incomplete grades in CHEM 211, STAT 263 and ENIN 301 (F 2017). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:
1. I will extend your incomplete grades in CHEM 211 and STAT 263 based on your instructors€™ generous offers. You are permitted up to September 15, 2018 to write these exams and it is your responsibility to contact your instructors to make the appropriate arrangements.
2. I will deny your request to receive an extension of your incomplete grade in ENIN 301. Your instructor has confirmed that you have not submitted any work for this class to date. To be eligible for an incomplete grade, students must have actively participated in the class and only have one or two elements outstanding due to well documented extenuating circumstances. In your case, I would recommend that you consider repeating this course at a later time. The documentation supplied with your appeal is not sufficient to offer a late drop as it does not confirm the timeline or severity of your circumstances or describe the impact that your circumstances had on your ability to drop this class by the week 8 deadline.
3. I will deny your request to drop MICR 221 past the academic deadline. Students are expected to realistically appraise their progress by week 8 of each term regardless of whether or not any grades have been received. This is done by determining whether or not you€™ve attended all lectures and labs, kept up with the readings and handed in assignments on time. Based on the lack of sufficient evidence to show that you were unable to make this determination by the Week 8 deadline and drop MICR 221 accordingly, I cannot justify altering your transcript after the fact.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
