Dear Mr. Sangoi:

I have carefully considered your request to have your appeal heard after the 21-day timeline for submission, and have decided, based on the circumstances you refer to in your letter of appeal, to waive the timeline. You may now proceed with your planned appeal to request a review of your instructor€™s decision concerning your grade in PHAR 499B (W 2014).

Please access on the on-line appeals system at: http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/help/academic-appeals/online-appeal-submission After you enter your NetID and password you will now have a new appeal option called €œSubmit a Late Appeal€. Choose this option and follow the steps. Your appeal letter should clearly state what specific work for PHAR 499 you would like to have formally reevaluated and articulate the grounds for reconsideration, identifying specifically the substance of an answer or portion of work where you feel the mark given was not evaluated fully and fairly. For example:

€¢ show, in an objective answer, that a correct answer has been counted as incorrect;
€¢ show, in a subjective or essay answer, that the response has been under evaluated substantially; and
€¢ provide relevant documentation to support the appeal (i.e. class notes, email communication, etc.).
There will not be a fee for this new appeal, as it will be considered an amendment to your 21-day deadline appeal so the system will skip over the payment step.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Faculty Office for advice or assistance.

Sincerely,

J. Hugh Horton, Ph.D.
