Dear Ms. Scott:

I have reviewed your appeal to drop MATH 121 (F/W 2017-18) as well as change the grade you received in CHEM 112 (F/W 2017-18) to Aegrotat standing. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information supplied by the instructor about the circumstances surrounding this course, I have decided to grant your appeal.

The instructor of CHEM 112 (F/W 2017-18) has submitted a replacement grade based on the work you have completed, which will appear on your transcript as B along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

In your letter of appeal you request a full refund for MATH 121. The appeal process for a fee refund is available through the Registrar€™s Office. Please note that it is your responsibility to communicate with the course coordinator of BIOL 103, Mr. Robert Snetsinger as well as the instructor of HLTH 101, Professor Jennifer Wigglesworth to arrange to write your deferred exams which must be completed by September 15, 2018.

I am confident that in the future you will make contact with QSAS if you require accommodations as soon as the need arises. Further you should pause and reflect on your progress in your courses during week 7 of the academic term and drop courses by week 8 if you have not been able to keep up with the course requirements. Deadline dates to drop courses have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students providing them with the opportunity to evaluate their progress and make informed decisions regarding dropping courses when life circumstances affect their studies.
