Dear Ms. Hulse:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop MATH 210 (W 2018) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I have granted this appeal based on the extenuating circumstances which you have outlined, but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage an ongoing condition. Instead, I would suggest that you continue to pursue counselling and take a reduced course load, as suggested by Dr. Gupta in her letter. I encourage you to meet with an Academic Advisor prior to week 8 of the term to review your progress in your courses and to evaluate the impact of your health on your studies. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and give them adequate time to evaluate their progress in light of their health issues.

I would also encourage you to meet with an academic advisor to discuss Plan options taking both your grades and your interests into account. This is because your grades in the Humanities courses are much higher than your grades in Math courses.
