Associate Dean: Johanne Benard, Ph.D.
Student Name: Thomas Pineau-Valencienne

Course: BIO102
Term: Summer
Year: 2018
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Mr. Pineau-Valencienne:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop BIOL 102 (S 2018). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances. But I need to warn you that the appeal process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to continue to work with your Doctor and an Academic Advisor to manage your academics. I am pleased to see that you are taking a lighter course load and encourage you to evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term and drop courses by that point of the term if necessary.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
