I have carefully considered your appeal to drop BIOL 102, CISC 110 (F 2016); GEOL 104 (W 2017 & W 2018); ECON 222 (F 2017 & W 2018); ECON 212 (W 2018) and ENIN 340 (S 2018). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:
1. To grant your request for late drops in GEOL 104, ECON 222, ECON 212 (W 2018) and ENIN 340 (S 2018) based on your extenuating circumstances which affected all your courses and are documented by your family physician from December 2017.
2. To deny your request to drop BIOL 102, CISC 110 (F 2016); GEOL 104 (W 2017) and ECON 222 (F 2017) because there is no documentation for this time period nor an explanation of why these courses were impacted more than the other courses during that same time period.
If you wish to appeal this decision you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent. Guidelines for appealing to the Board of Studies and the appeal form can be found at: http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/students-at-queens/academic-appeals (click on €œBoard of Studies€) Do not use the on-line application for this process. You may contact the Office of the Ombudsman for advice on matters of procedure and on obtaining a representative. I am pleased to read that you plan to continue to work with your Physician to ensure you make continued progress regarding your mental health. I would also encourage you to contact the Queen€™s Student Accessibility Services Office (QSAS) if ongoing support in your studies is required. I must warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems and is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. I would encourage you to consider taking a lighter course load and to meet with an Academic Advisor during week 7 of the term to evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term and to drop courses if necessary at that time.
