Dear Ms. Cairo:

As per standard practice, I have reviewed your appeal before it proceeds to the Board of Studies for consideration. Based on the new documentation you supplied with this appeal, I have decided to change my original decision and will grant your request for Credit standing in PSYC 202, PSYC 205, PSYC 241, PSYC 271 (F 2017) and PSYC 203, PSYC 236 (W 2018). I am also allowing Credit standing in ENGL 237, ENLG 258 and LLCU 320 (W 2018) as there is evidence in the note from Dr. Butler that your circumstances had a severe impact on all your course work. Your grades in these courses will be noted as CR on your transcript.

Note that any change in academic registration (e.g. dropping courses) may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding such as OSAP, scholarships, or bursaries. Please consult with the Student Awards Office (Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall) to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load. A change in academic registration may also affect a student€™s enrollment status as a full or part-time student, eligibility for student visas, or benefits through external agencies.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students allowing them to drop courses should health or personal issues affect their studies. The appeals process is designed to address problems that occur, or become more acute, after the week 8 deadline to drop courses.
