I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in PSYC 203, PSYC 215 and PSYC 231 (W 2015). After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed all of the work of the course including the final examination, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower€. Credit standing is only granted in cases where there are well documented and unforeseen extenuating circumstances outside of a student€™s control. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling extenuating circumstances which were beyond his or her control.
You should be commended for coping with a significant set of health issues while completing your undergraduate degree. However, changing grades in 3 key courses to increase your GPA to 1.9 to allow you to graduate is not an appropriate remedy. To protect the integrity of the degree, we need to see you demonstrate your mastery in your concentration courses. Retaking PSYC 100 and dropping PSYC 271 (W 2018) to achieve 1.9 are the better remedy. I would support dropping PSYC 271 (W 2018) and even PSYC 251 (W 2018) if you wish. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
