Dear Ms. Perera:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ANAT 315, HLTH 252, KNPE 225, KNPE 265 and KNPE 251 (F 2018) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to drop courses by the deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure that students have 8 weeks to evaluate their progress and, if life circumstances or health issues are compromising their studies, to drop course without academic penalty. Going forward you will be expected to evaluate your progress in your courses prior to week 8 and to drop courses by that time. Appeals after week 8 are meant for students who experienced an extenuating circumstance after that deadline.

Please note that you will need to appeal to the Registrar€™s Office for a tuition fee refund. Information can be found at the following web site regarding that procedure:

http://www.queensu.ca/registrar/sites/webpublish.queensu.ca.uregwww/files/files/Tuition_Fee_Amendment_Appeal_Form.pdf

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck with your recovery.

Yours sincerely,

Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
