Dear Mr. Nanan:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop BIOL 103 (W 2018) and CHEM 112 (FW 2017-18); receive Aegrotat standing in MATH 121 & PHYS 117 (FW 2017-18); and receive an extension of an Incomplete grade in PSYC 100 (FW 2017-18). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:

1. To grant your request for late drops in BIOL 103 and CHEM 112 based on your extenuating circumstances which are documented by Student Wellness Services.

2. To grant your request for an Extension of your Incomplete Grade in PSYC 100. You are permitted up to May 15, 2019 at the latest to write this exam and it is your responsibility to contact Professor Norris to make the appropriate arrangements.

3. To deny your request to receive Aegrotat standing in MATH 121 and PHYS 117. The information we have received from your instructors in these courses advises that you have not completed 60 of the course work which is a requirement for an appeal for Aegrotat standing.

However, based on the information and documentation presented in your appeal, I am willing to offer you an Incomplete grade in MATH 121 and you would permitted up to May 15, 2019 at the latest to write this exam. I am also willing to drop the PHYS 117 past the academic deadline and will also drop MATH 121 past the academic deadline if you prefer to drop that course rather than complete the exam at a later date. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.

If you wish to appeal this decision you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent. I am pleased to read that you have an academic plan in place and that you have begun treatment with Student Wellness Services. I must warn you however that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems and is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. I would encourage you to consider taking a lighter course load and to evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term and to drop courses if necessary at that time.
