I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 100 (S 2018) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be dropped on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under extenuating circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by circumstances beyond his or her control.
While you do outline circumstances that are extenuating in nature, you do not provide documentation to support the extenuating circumstances which caused you to miss the academic deadline date to drop this course. Given your circumstances, if you are able to provide documentation that covers the Summer term 2018, you may submit it to asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision and I will be willing to review your appeal again with the new documentation included. Please indicate in the subject line of your appeal that this is an appeal amendment to Appeal 5247.
