Dear Ms. Shirani:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ENGL 200, ENGL 292 (FW 2017-18) and ENGL 258 (W 2018) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and the multitude of challenges you faced during that period. But I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to continue to work with your Counsellor and Academic Advisor to manage your academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your circumstances on your studies prior to the drop date at the end of week 8 of term.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
