Dear Ms. Higgins:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHAR 100 (F 2018) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in PSYC 251 and PSYC 202 (F 2018). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grades in PSYC 251 and PSYC 202 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to work with your Counsellor and and QSAS to manage your academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies during week 7 of the term. If you have been unable to keep up with your course work, you should drop courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline date.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
