Dear Ms. Gilforte:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CLST 201 (W 2017), ENGL 292 (FW 2017-18) and GNDS 125 (S 2017). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:
1. To grant your request to drop GNDS 125 based on the extenuating circumstances you outline which are documented the Continuing and Distance Studies office.
2. To deny your request to drop CLST 201 and ENGL 292. With regards to CLST 201, you have been unable to provide official documentation which supports the challenges you faced during that term. With regards to ENGL 292, your letter states that you were not aware of the participation grade percentage but it is the student€™s responsibility to ensure they receive class materials and information for classes they were unable to attend. Furthermore, you do not provide documentation to support the illness which caused you to miss the class that outlined the participation requirement.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, information and deadlines can be found at www.queensu.ca/artsci/students-at-queens/academic-appeals (click on €œBoard of Studies€). Do not use the on-line application for this process. You may contact the Office of the Ombudsman (www.queensu.ca/ombudsman) for advice on matters of procedure and on obtaining a representative.
Sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
