Dear Ms. Wilson:
I was sorry to read of the health challenges you have been dealing with since you began your studies here at Queen€™s. I am sure it has been difficult to try and complete your courses successfully while you are working so hard to deal with those challenges. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHAR 100, ANAT 100 (W 2018) & EMPR 220 (F 2018) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in LLCU 320 (W 2018). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grade in LLCU 320 appear on your transcript as CR.
I am pleased to see that you continue to carry a reduced course load and I hope that this term has gone well. I do want to remind you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing issues but is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Should you feel that additional support is needed in the future, I would encourage you to consider contacting QSAS if you have not done so already. The counsellors there may be able to help you manage both your health and academics. Going forward you should pause and evaluate your progress during week 7 of the term and drop courses that you have not been able to keep up with by the week 8 drop deadline date.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
