Dear Ms. Huang:

I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in BIOL 102 & HLTH 101 (F 2018) and to drop STAT 263 (F 2018), PSYC 100 (FW 2018/19) and HLTH 102 (W 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file I have decided the following:

1. To grant your appeal to drop HLTH 102 (W 2019) and PSYC 100 (FW 2018-19). The circumstances outlined in your letter of appeal as well as the documentation provided does support circumstances which are specifically linked to the Winter term 2019.

2. To deny your request to drop STAT 263 and receive Credit standing in BIOL 102 and HLTH 101 (F 2018). The circumstances outlined related to the Fall term are not supported by documentation. I recognize that your grandfather passed away during the Fall term 2018 but his passing was well before the November 1st drop date.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I have granted the late drops in PSYC 100 and HLTH 102 based on your extenuating circumstances and encourage you to meet with your counsellor to discuss whether you should register with QSAS and work with an accommodation advisor to manage your academics if your symptoms persist. I also suggest that you consider taking a lighter course load and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. If you are experiencing problems that are affecting your course work by that point of the term, please drop the courses by the deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and give them adequate time to evaluate their progress in light of their health issues.
