Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 5438
Decision Date: April 1, 2019
Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Katelyn McAulay
Student Email: 16kjm6@queensu.ca
Course: PSYC 271
Term: Fall
Year: 2018
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Ms. McAulay:
I was sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you have experienced challenges finding the best treatment for your health condition. No doubt that has impacted your studies and particularly this course due to the evaluations which you were unable to complete. I am pleased to have read that you are registered with QSAS and that you plan to continue to seek support from medical professionals. Based on those circumstances, I have decided to grant your appeal to drop PSYC 271 (F 2018) past the academic deadline.
Please note that the appeals process is not designed to manage an ongoing condition so I encourage you to evaluate the impact of your health on your studies by week 7 of term. If you have fallen behind in your readings or assignments, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline date. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I wish you well in your continued recovery.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
