I was sorry to read of the very difficult circumstances you experienced in your residence Yunhao and the resultant struggles you have had in your courses, particularly in CISC 121 (W 2019). After carefully considering your appeal to drop this course past the academic deadline, I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation.
I would like to suggest that you use this is a learning experience and that in the future, you pause to evaluate the impact of your circumstances on your studies during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
I was pleased to see that you sought out support from Student Wellness Services and I encourage you to continue to work with that office who, I trust, will be able to assist you going forward. I am also pleased to see that you have registered in CISC 121 during the Summer term 2019 and wish you success with that course during this upcoming term.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
