Dear Sage Mills:

I was sorry to read in your letter of appeal the various challenges you have experienced while you have been pursuing your university degree and have carefully considered your appeal to drop GPHY 229, GPHY 325, GPHY 338 (F 2017) and GPHY 102, GPHY 314, GPHY 351, GPHY 362 (W 2018) past the academic deadline. Based on the circumstances you have outlined as well as the documentation you have submitted, I have decided to grant your appeal.

I would like to note that I have exercised some leniency in this decision, acknowledging the challenges you faced during the 2017/2018 academic year. But I strongly suggest that in the future you carefully reflect on your progress in your courses during week 7 & 8 of the term. If you have not been actively engaged in your courses and completing your readings and assignments on time, you should drop any courses in which you have fallen behind in by the drop deadline. Appeals for late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter problems after week 8 or whose problems are more acute and is not meant to manage ongoing conditions.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
