Dear Sean Cooke:

I was sorry to have read in your letter of appeal the challenges you have experienced this term, no doubt it has been a difficult few months. I was pleased to see that you dropped courses with the hope that you could then manage your remaining courses. I understand that even with this reduction this course load was still unmanageable. Based on your extenuating circumstances, documentation, and your attempt to make a good academic decision earlier in the term, I have decided to grant your appeal to drop CHEM 112, PYSC 100 (FW 2018-19) and BIOL 103 (W 2019) past the academic deadline.

I encourage you to follow through with your plans to schedule regular sessions with your support contact and continue to work with QSAS in the future who can help you manage both your health and your academics. This may include carrying a lighter course load, and would include pausing to evaluate your progress in your courses by week 7 of the term and dropping courses by the week 8 drop date if you have fallen behind.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Please note that the DR notations will appear on your transcript when the Winter term grades are released on May 12, 2019.
