Dear Mackenzie Davidson:
I was sorry to read of the various health related challenges you have had this past academic year which certainly appear to have impacted your studies. I have reviewed your request to drop PHGY 215 and PSYC 271 (F 2018) after the drop date as well as change the grade you received in PHAR 270 (F 2018) to Aegrotat standing. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information supplied by the instructor about the circumstances surrounding this course, I have decided to grant your appeal.
The instructor of PHAR 270 has submitted a replacement grade based on the work you have completed, which will appear on your transcript as A- along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.
I have granted this appeal based on your circumstances and documentation, but also due to the decision you made to carry a lighter course load during winter term with the goal of successfully completing these courses. I realize that unfortunately you were not able to complete the course requirements, but I was pleased to see that you made a strong effort to do so. Going forward, I encourage you to assess your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in your course work or your health is impacting your studies, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline date.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I wish you well in your recovery
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
